Deer hopelessly tangled in hammock gets helping hand

Utah biologists last week rescued a mule deer whose antlers had become so entangled that its head was nearly indiscernible.

“The buck was not able to see through what we suspect was a tangled hammock,” the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources stated Tuesday on Facebook.

A DWR rescue team responded to reports and located the deer in the town of Parowan. The buck was tranquilized, the string was removed, and the animal was fitted with a GPS collar.

“The buck was released and appears to be doing great!” the DWR announced.
