PORT COSTA — The entire town of Port Costa has been placed under an evacuation warning Thursday afternoon, due to a growing brush fire in the hills above the Carquinez Strait.
The Crockett fire department issued a warning for the entire town of roughly 250 residents to be ready to leave if need be. The warning urges residents to immediately prepare for the possibility of a mandatory evacuation warning, but none have been ordered yet.
“Gather any important items you could carry with you, including medications, baby supplies, money, important papers, and photos. Locate any pets or animals and be prepared to cage or leash them,” the warning says. “If you require additional time to evacuate, you should leave now.”
