Gov. Brian Kemp extends Georgia’s gas tax suspension

Kemp extends gas tax suspension and supply chain state of emergency

Gov. Brian Kemp has suspended Georgia’s gas tax for another month.

The order applies to motor fuel, but also makes provision for locomotive fuel. Kemp also renewed the State of Emergency for Supply Chain Disruptions.

Kemp extended the gas tax suspension for the state until Sept. 12.

Since the original suspension of the gas tax — Kemp has extended it twice.

I have extended the temporary suspension of the state’s motor fuel tax to alleviate the financial burden placed on Georgians due to the federal government’s gross mishandling of inflation. I have also renewed efforts to address supply chain challenges.

The current suspension was set to end later this month on Aug.13.

Georgia’s gas price normally includes a federal tax of 18.4 cents per gallon and a state tax of 29.1 cents per gallon.
