Injury crash on 170 Freeway in North Hollywood closes lanes

A SigAlert was issued early Tuesday morning for the southbound 170 Freeway just north of Burbank Boulevard in the North Hollywood area following an injury crash, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP and Los Angeles Fire Department responded about 4:45 a.m. to the southbound lanes, where three tow trucks were called to remove vehicles, the CHP reported.

There were at least two injuries in the crash, and firefighters were working to extricate victims from the wreckage. One person was described as “still conscious” by CHP officers in a report at 5:13 a.m.

The vehicles involved in the crash, which initially occurred in the No. 3 lane, were described as a Toyota Corolla, a Hyundai Accent and an unknown vehicle.

The SigAlert was issued at 5:17 a.m., and the CHP said it would be in effect for an hour.

About 5:30 a.m., the CHP indicated that officers were planning to open the carpool and No. 1 and 2 lanes on the southbound 170 in 10 minutes, but Los Angeles police are on scene, and the investigation remains ongoing. The offramp to the southbound 170 at Burbank Boulevard was closed.
