The St. Johns River Ferry was removed from service due Saturday morning due to an equipment issue, according to Jacksonville Transportation Authority.
JTA inspected the vessel and found that a part associated with the steering unit was damaged and will need to be replaced.
JTA said it anticipates service will resume by mid-week after the part is replaced and the vessel passes inspection by the U.S. Coast Guard.
