UFC’s Dana White says Fight Island is coming in June

UFC’s Dana White has been hyping up the existence of a “Fight Island” for weeks, and while little is known about the private island site meant to host isolated, fan-free UFC events in the time of coronavirus, White says he’s expecting to host multiple cards on the island in June.

In a video with commentator Jon Anik on Friday, White revealed the card for UFC Fight Night: Woodley vs. Burns, set for May 30th in Las Vegas, and gave an update on the status of Fight Island. According to White, he plans to spend a significant amount of time at the location in the coming months, and said we could be in for a fight card each weekend starting some time in June.

“People are very intrigued by Fight Island, and I’m excited for it. Right now we’re looking at June. And we’re literally gonna knock out three or four fights there, in a month. And I’m going to stay on the island a month, I’m going to go stay there. I’ll probably be there the whole month of July.”

UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya recently told Stuff in New Zealand that Fight Island is “1000 percent” legitimate.

Via Stuff.co.nz:

“1000 percent. I talked to Dana after UFC 249 (May 9) and he said it would be ready four weeks from then so it’s almost ready now. My guess is it’s in the Pacific like American Samoa or somewhere like that because that’s still an American colony or an island off that somewhere but I don’t know.”
