Ulysses S. Grant High School gave a hearty send-off to its 402 graduates in the class of 2021 at an in-person ceremony at the school in Valley Glen.The school also presented a live stream of the ceremony for family and friends who could not attend due to ticket limits for the ceremony.

A virtual graduation presentation was scheduled for June 11.

The school’s Academic Decathlon team won the Los Angeles School District’s 40th Academic Decathlon competition that took place in February this year.

The “Home of the Lancers” opened in 1959 for grades 10-12. The motto is “What we are to be we are now becoming.” The school colors are brown, orange and white.

Famous people who have graduated from, or attended, Grant include Mike Curb, composer-producer and former California lieutenant governor; composer Mike Post; actor-singer Micky Dolenz; Mitch Gaylord, 1984 Olympic gold medal gymnast; actor Tom Selleck.
